Source : Escherichia Coli. Insulin-Like Growth Factor-II Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 67 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 7505 Dalton. IGF-II is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. IGF-2 is a member of the insulin family of polypeptide growth factors that is involved in development and growth. It is an imprinted gene and is expressed only from the paternally inherited allele. It is a candidate gene for eating disorders. There is a read-through, INS-IGF2, which aligns to this gene at the 3' region and to the upstream INS gene at the 5' region. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized IGF2 in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O at a concentration of 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependent induction of MCF-7 cell proliferation was found to be 0.85ng/ml corresponding to a Specific Activity of 1,176,470IU/mg.
