Source : Escherichia Coli. SEPW1 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 110 amino acids (1-87 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 11.8kDa. SEPW1 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Selenoprotein W 1, also known as SEPW1 is a selenoprotein, which has a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at its active site. The selenocysteine is encoded through the UGA codon which normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTR of selenoprotein genes share a common stem-loop structure, the sec insertion sequence (SECIS), which is essential for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon instead of as a stop signal. SEPW1 shows highest expression in skeletal muscle and heart, and also involved in oxidation-reduction reactions.
